CSE Undergraduates Secure 1st Runner-Up at Vectra (2026)

We are thrilled to announce that Team InsightAI has emerged as the 1st Runner-Up at Vectra (2026), the first interuniversity premier national-level cybersecurity King of the Hill challenge in Sri Lanka. After successfully advancing through the preliminary round, the team secured their podium finish by competing against a highly competitive lineup of 24 teams in the grand finale. The event was organised by the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group of the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) in collaboration with Legion Offensive Security.

With agentic AI strictly prohibited and only standard generative AI permitted, the intense 8-hour competition pushed participants' technical agility and strategic patching to the absolute limit. The challenge required a dynamic blend of offensive and defensive skills:

  • Exploit: Penetrating live machines and finding hidden flags.

  • Dominate: Claiming ownership via the target's king.txt file.

  • Defend: Actively evicting and blocking rival teams to accumulate time-based points.

We are immensely proud of Team InsightAI, comprising undergraduates from the Computer Science and Engineering '23 batch:

  • Kusal Pabasara

  • Milindu Weerawarna

  • Maheesha Dabarera

Congratulations to the team on this outstanding achievement and for representing the department exceptionally in the national cybersecurity arena!
