CSE Students Shine at Red Cloud Summit
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Moratuwa has always been a hub for talent and innovation, and our students have once again proven their mettle on a grand stage. We are excited to announce the remarkable achievements of our students at the Red Cloud Summit organized by OREL IT, where "Team Deciphers" and "Team De Bait" made us proud by securing second runner-up positions in the Capture The Flag (CTF) and Debate competitions, respectively.
Team Deciphers, comprising Mohamed Naji Mohamed Muaadh, Sanuja Kalhan Edirisinghe, and Shanilka Adithya De Silva, showcased their prowess in the CloudWars Capture The Flag (CTF) competition, a challenging cybersecurity event organized by Orel IT and hosted by HashX on their platform. The competition involved a series of intricate tasks, including decoding and analysis of web pages, image analysis of a night sky photo, analysis of geo-coordinates in a CSV file, and decrypting an encoded text. The team's dedication and expertise were evident as they tackled each task with precision, earning them the well-deserved second runners-up position.
Team De Bait, comprised of Navindu Yohan Danujaya De Silva, Saadha Marium Salim, and Chathura Madhubhashana Gunasekara, demonstrated their eloquence and critical thinking in The Great Debate Competition. In the first round, they engaged in a compelling debate against the University of Vavuniya on the topic "The cloud is safer than my server room," representing the proposing team, and emerged victorious. Advancing to the semi-finals, they faced APIIT University as the opposing team on the topic "Is the cloud really green?". Despite a closely contested debate, they secured the third-highest total marks, securing the overall 2nd Runner's Up position.
As a token of recognition, both teams were awarded LKR 1,000,000/- worth of OREL Cloud Credit each, acknowledging their exceptional performance.
Let's extend our heartfelt congratulations to Team Deciphers and Team De Bait for their outstanding achievements at the Red Cloud Summit. We look forward to more victories and commendable student performances in future competitions.
